Sound familiar?
You can write, analyse, organise, design, teach or solve a problem that others struggle with. Yet when you think about making money with it, the questions arrive: What exactly should I sell? Who will pay? What do I say without sounding desperate?
So you save another post. Consider another course. Tell yourself you will start when your portfolio is better or your confidence is higher.
You need a clear route from “I can do this” to “Here is why you should pay me to do it.”
This toolkit walks you through that route. Choose one skill. Find five suitable prospects. Understand a real problem. Show a useful sample. Build three clear offers. Then have the conversation that moves the work forward.
What you will build
Choose a skill with demand that you can deliver around your job, then describe the problem you help solve.
Shape your profile, portfolio and a small prototype so a prospect can see what working with you could look like.
Prepare outreach, three scoped offers, a discovery call and the documents that make the agreement clear.

Built from my experience alongside a job
I’m Oluwadamilare Agbolade, a brand and business strategist and founder of Damlexa Consulting. While working in a corporate role, I built client relationships through communities, speaking, referrals and showing people what I could help them achieve.
In client payments received from January 2025 to September 2026, alongside my corporate job. That was about 2.6 times my salary over the same period.
What that looked like in practice: one client first saw what I could do through personalised prototypes and two strategy calls. She then hired me for her visual brand, programme and website. The lesson is useful across skills: make the value visible before asking someone to commit.
The important part is what happened before those payments: identifying a need, demonstrating value, framing the offer and agreeing the work. That is what I break down in this book.
My personal experience, not a promise of your earnings. Figures are payments received, including instalments and advance payments—not an audited net-profit figure. Client identities remain private.
Feedback from my client work
These recommendations relate to my branding, strategy and delivery work—the experience behind this toolkit. They are not reviews of the book or promises of a buyer’s results.

A good fit if…
This is a self-paced ebook and workbook toolkit. It does not supply clients, guarantee income or teach a technical skill from scratch.
You do not need to be a website designer. The principles apply across services such as writing, analysis, operations, design and training, when you can competently solve a client’s problem.
Choose outside work that respects your employment obligations and the confidentiality of everyone you work with.

AI can help you draft a pitch or generate ideas. This toolkit gives you an ordered process for deciding which skill to sell, whose problem to solve, what proof to show and how to scope the offer. The examples and workbooks help you make those decisions for your situation. You can use AI alongside it; the bonus section shows where it can help.
No. The approach starts with five suitable prospects, not a large following. Prepare relevant proof on the platforms your potential clients use. The positioning step helps you decide what you need; you do not have to build a presence everywhere before starting.
